The most important trend from the 90's that I love is A term I coined The
Sexual 90's. These songs are explicit, basically sex over music.

This trend Started in 1991 with The Color Me Bad Hit, I wanna Sex You Up.   Which was followed up by Silk  with Freak Me and Lose Control Song and Album  in 1992.   Also The group Shai  featured The song "Sexual" in 1992 off of their If I ever Fall in love Album. The Group H-Town Release Knockin' Da Boots and Lick you up in April of 1993 off of their Debut Album Fever for da flavor , who was then Followed By R-Kelly With Sex Me, Bump And Grind, Your Body Callin, 12 Play, it seems like you ready and numerous remixes off of the 12 Play album which was released on November 9th,1993

This trend Continued on and spread to many other artists in the upcoming years and enjoyed peak years from 1994 to the end of 1995. 1995 saw the release of 4 Classic albums that defined this new Genre from Adina Howard, Kut Klose, and Lorenzo and Jodeci.  Even though the high point was reached in 1995 the trend has became embedded into the culture of r&b and lives on.

A Quiet Storm MasterPiece

                                               Simply Beautiful

1990 En Vogue: Born To Sing: Waitin On You
This is off The Debut album
Which was Released on April 3, 1990.
3 number 1 hits, 1.Hold On, 2. Lies, 3. You Don't Have to Worry
4. Don't  Go, didn't make it to Number 1 but it Topped out at number 3 on the charts.

This album was recorded from August 89-Dec 89
Quiet Storm at it's finest.

"That is The Legendary Grover Washington on the Saxophone"

To find a timeless classic like this is why I love The 90's.

                                                      Play On Repeat

Imagine the Lights down low, and your eyes are closed, Relaxing  and  Feeling the sax, it's so smooth it could put you to sleep. So subtle listen for how the sax volume lowers and sits under the music, this is love making music at its finest.

                              Lyrics to Song

It's ten O' clock and I'm still alone
Waitin' by the phone
It makes me think you won't be back again
And I'm feeling so intense, oh baby

I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now
I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now

I fantasize of makin' love
It's such a lonely feeling without you
But I would not have to dream
If you would just be there to share my loves desire

I should not be alone
Just waitin' for a man who claims he loves me so
I have more patience than I can believe
It's such a shame, I can't believe I'm still alone

I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now
I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now

I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now
I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now

I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you
To come home, to come home now
I can't keep wastin' my time, waitin' on you

To come home, to come home now

Why I love the 90's

Song of the Day: 12-18-13 Adina Howard: My up and down;
(From the Album) Do you wanna Ride.
                                             Turn the lights down baby
And come to me baby
Let me put something on your your (mmmmhhhm)
Cause I gotta let you know
What I want, Where I want, whenever I need it baby
So you know you betta be ready tonight cause its on

Haven't your heard
about my up and down and round and round
You should've known by now about The merri-go-round.
Haven't your heard
about the up and down and round and round
You should've known by now about The merri-go-round.

You said you were happy
With your wife and happy home
So what I don't understand,
is why your here with me tonight
'Cause if your girlfriend could do the
freaky thing I do to you(hmmm)
Then you do have the time to hang around
for my ups and downs
Deep in my heart
I know I can make you moan
Come on and lets get it on baby
and all in my mind
I gonna hold on tight
cause tonight is the night
we won't stop to we get it all right
hold on tight
tonight is the night
baby your in for the time of your life

Haven't your heard
about my up and down and round and round
You should've known by now about my merri-go-round.
Haven't your heard
about the up and down and round and round
You should've known by now about The merri-go-round.

This blog is my personal dedication to the appreciation of music from the 90's which is my favorite decade for music.

The 90's gave us the end of the New Jack Swing Era, and Then  Introduced us to the New Hip-Hop Soul Era, The 90's also gave us the end of The Urban Quiet Storm Era. The birth of The Neo-soul era began by the mid 90's.

The most important trend/era from the 90's that I love is A term I call The
Sexual 90's. These songs are explicit, basically sex over music. This trend took off in 1992. Mixed with the smooth, deep bass, heavy bassline production that was starting to emerge and this sets the 90's apart. Yes, there has been artists who sung sex over music, such as marvin gaye, but it was Isolated by very few artist. In the 90's it became very common.

A common theory prevails that R&B got more aggressive due to the rise of The Very Aggressive Gangsta Rap and it's populartity.

So many Great songs and Artists make  this my favorite Decade. Also the 90's Introduced some Legendary producers and Song Writers. Babyface, R-Kelly, Timberland to just name a few.

The Trend of rap/hip-hop artists Callabos with R&B Artists took off in the 90's. The Gritty and heavy baseline  production is also another trait that helps to distinguish this decade from previous decades and also future decades.

R&B Artists had a daily 2 hour video showcase program during the the early 90's and 80's which was video soul which aired from 81-96. That exposure would help some artist get the fan base and recognition they deserved, but some artist wasn't as fortunate as others.

With this blog I hope to highlight some of them.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy!
